46 swimmers were present at the 2017 South Dakota State Masters Swim Meet, held for the first time ever at the Midco Aquatic Center in Sioux Falls. Workout groups from Mitchell, Aberdeen, Pierre, and Sioux Falls competed for the coveted “Golden Kickboard.” With the home pool advantage in their favor, the Sioux Falls workout group swam away with the title for the third year in a row. Aberdeen was in second place, closely followed by Pierre, with Mitchell’s group adding in some nice representation. We were also honored to have several swimmers from Iowa with us at this year’s meet.
61 new state meet records were set at this event! Congratulations to Megan Sampson, Sara Pokela, Elyce Kastigar, Troy TenNapel, Alex McLain, Jess Dillavou, Jacquie Westendorf, Adam Kastigar, Charles Longo, Matland ‘Matt’ Peterson, Barry Hein, Tim Doyle, Sherry Barkley, Jesse Parker, Paula Pardy, Katrina TenNapel, Kathy Grady, Jenny Gors Hodges, Steve Johnson, Amy Pokela, Paula Gordon, Sallie Doty, and Michael Palm for adding their names to the record board.
